What is Roomie?

Roomie is a social app where you hang out as customizable 3D avatars in virtual rooms. Chat with friends using spatial voice and face-tracking, decorate your personal room, play mini-games, and watch streams together — all from your phone.

Is Roomie free?

Yes! Roomie is free to download and use. You can earn Coins through daily login rewards and inviting friends. Optional in-app purchases are available for additional Coins to buy cosmetic items and room decorations.

What devices does Roomie support?

Roomie is currently available on iOS. We're working on bringing Roomie to more platforms in the future.

How old do I have to be to use Roomie?

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use Roomie.

Why am I on a waitlist?

We're rolling out access gradually to make sure everyone has the best experience. You can skip the waitlist by using an invite code from a current Roomie user. Once you're in, you'll get invite codes of your own to share.

How do invite codes work?

Every Roomie user gets a limited number of invite codes (currently 2). When someone signs up with your code, both of you receive 100 Coins and they get immediate access — no waitlist.

Do you have a Discord server?

Yes! Join our community on Discord. It's where the community hangs out, shares feedback, and helps shape what Roomie becomes next.

How do I customize my avatar?

Head to your profile and tap Edit Avatar. You can change your avatar's skin tone, hair, outfit, accessories, and more. New cosmetic items are added regularly.

What is TV Head mode?

TV Head lets you stream your camera feed live onto your avatar's head, so other users in the room can see your face. You can toggle it on and off at any time. Like face tracking, video is streamed in real time and is never stored by Roomie.

How does voice chat work?

Roomie uses spatial audio — meaning voices get louder or softer as you walk your avatar closer to or further from other users. Just enable your microphone and start talking. You can mute anytime.

Can I decorate my personal room?

Yes! Your personal room is your space to customize. You can place furniture, decorations, and items you've purchased from the shop, or earned through daily login rewards, playing games, and inviting friends.

How many people can be in a room?

Personal rooms support up to 5 users at a time. Public spaces like the Lounge and Theater can hold more.

What are Coins?

Coins are Roomie's virtual currency. You can use them to buy cosmetic items, room decorations, and send gifts to other users. Coins can be purchased via in-app purchase or earned for free through daily login rewards, invite bonuses, and promotions.

What are Gems?

Gems are Roomie's earned-only currency — they cannot be purchased. The only way to earn Gems is by receiving voluntary gifts from other users. When a viewer sends you a gift, you receive Gems worth 85% of that gift's Coin value (Roomie retains 15% as a platform fee). Gems can then be withdrawn for real money via PayPal or Venmo once you reach the minimum threshold of 1,000 Gems ($10 USD).

How do I withdraw Gems for real money?

To request a withdrawal:

1. Go to your Wallet in the app
2. Tap Withdraw Gems
3. Enter the amount (minimum 1,000 Gems / $10 USD)
4. Select PayPal or Venmo
5. Submit your request

First-time withdrawals require identity verification and tax information. Payouts are processed within 3–5 business days.

How long does a payout take?

Payouts are typically processed within 3–5 business days after approval. Payment is sent via PayPal or Venmo.

Are Coin purchases refundable?

All Coin purchases are final and non-refundable, except where required by law or in cases of unauthorized purchases. For unauthorized purchase claims, contact Apple Support or email us within 14 days of the transaction.

How does gifting work?

Viewers can send gifts to streamers and players using Coins. Gifting is entirely voluntary — there is no obligation to gift, and no feature is locked behind gifting. When a user receives a gift, it is automatically converted to Gems at an 85/15 split: the recipient earns 85% of the gift's Coin value as Gems, and Roomie retains 15% as a platform service fee. The recipient can then withdraw their Gems for real money.

What games are available?

Roomie features multiplayer mini-games like Hex Arena (a Fall Guys-style battle royale), Snake, Chess, and more. Games are played with other users in real time.

Can I earn real money on Roomie?

Yes. The only way to earn real money on Roomie is by receiving voluntary gifts from other users. Gifts are converted to Gems, and Gems can be withdrawn for cash. Here's how it works:

1. A viewer sends you a gift using their Coins.
2. You receive Gems worth 85% of the gift's Coin value. Roomie retains 15% as a platform fee.
3. Once you accumulate at least 1,000 Gems ($10 USD), you can withdraw to PayPal or Venmo.

There are two scenarios where you can receive gifts:

• Streaming in the Theater — Go live and viewers watching your stream can send you gifts.
• Playing Hex Arena with your mic or camera on — Spectators watching your game can send you gifts while you play.

Gifting is entirely voluntary. There are no guaranteed earnings, no entry fees from other players, and no game mechanic that requires or incentivizes gifting.

How do I report someone?

You can report a user directly through the in-app reporting feature. Alternatively, email support@joinroomieapp.com with the username of the person you're reporting and a description of what happened. Screenshots are very helpful.

How do I report a bug?

If something isn't working right, email support@joinroomieapp.com or post in our Discord server with a description of what happened, what device you're using, and any screenshots or screen recordings.

Why is my account suspended?

Accounts may be suspended for violating our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. Depending on severity, suspensions can be temporary or permanent. If you believe your suspension was a mistake, contact support@joinroomieapp.com.

Why am I not getting notifications?

Most often, notifications are turned off at the device level. Make sure Roomie notifications are enabled in your iPhone's Settings → Notifications → Roomie.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or email support@joinroomieapp.com. Your account will be deactivated within 24 hours. Please note that any remaining Coins will be forfeited.

Does Roomie record my camera or voice?

No. Roomie does not record, store, or retain any camera video, microphone audio, or facial images. All media is transmitted in real time only and is not accessible after your session ends. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
